The things I enjoy the most about leading tours to Churchill are the people I meet from all walks of life from all over the globe, the friends and acquaintances I’ve made, the rugged beauty of the landscape, and the abundant wildlife.
When I get the chance, I also enjoy the opportunity to photograph the abundant wildlife of Churchill. This year there was plenty of opportunity each time out to see and photograph Polar Bears, bears with cubs, Arctic Fox and Arctic Hare. On one occasion, we had the opportunity to see and photograph an Arctic Fox, a Red Fox, an Arctic Hare and a Polar Bear all in one photo…I missed the shot but several others were fast enough to capture it. Willow Ptarmigan and Snow Buntings were also abundant on the first two trips but not at all on the last trip.
On my last trip out I stayed out at the Tundra Buggy Lodge…a mobile lodge on wheels. On the first morning there, we woke up to a blizzard which in my opinion provided a wonderful backdrop for photographing the bears and other wildlife.
I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them.
